Our Chairman, Chaudhary Mohammad Yusoof, founded the company and named it after his father, Chaudhary Mohammad Khalil. The company was incorporated in 1969, as a Private Limited Company, and registered with the Registrar, Joint Stock Companies, Karachi, Pakistan. Through his dedicated hard work, the company has grown consistently over the years into a Group of Companies & expanded successfully into various fields / industries having diversified interests.

Our Chairman’s vision and philosophy of continuous improvement and respect for people has guided the group and is the foundation stone of our success. He heads the KHALIL Group. Led by its founder KHALIL is fast becoming a market leader in Pakistan and its mission is to become one of the leading business groups offering its customers top quality, door-to-door solutions and increasingly comprehensive local and global coverage. This vigorous expansion is fueled by a bold strategy and sustained capital spending. The Group is building its success by accepting and embracing change and on the strong values of quality, innovation. Always forward-looking, the KHALIL Group has prepared for the future by constantly expanding its portfolio of services. KPL is now a second generation company.

President of: The Pakistan-China Friendship Association Sindh Provincial Chapter at Karachi. The aim and goal of this Association is to further strengthen ties and bonds between the people of Pakistan and China and to develop strong business relations and ties between Pakistani and Chinese business houses and companies and to enhance trade between the two nations.

Mohammad Adnan Choudry, Managing Director is responsible for the overall management / operations, business development and expansion (local and international) of the KHALIL Group. As the son of the founder, he began his apprenticeship in KMEW in 1985 along with his college studies and has since been associated and running various companies of the Group for the last 24 years.

He holds the distinction of being Pakistan’s youngest Olympian, representing Pakistan in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, USA, in yachting in the Soling Class. He brings the same level of energy and competitiveness in his business pursuits. He is goal oriented and demands the same from his senior management. He heads a dynamic team with a mix of young as well as senior & experienced skilled professionals and demands extremely high levels of discipline and punctuality from them all, to ensure systematic business development and expansion and to make KHALIL the preferred working partner of our various local as well as foreign customers. All senior managers / staff members & workforce are continuously educated and refreshed about the intrinsic risks in our various business’ and each group company has set out safety guidelines for personnel and environment. The Group is rapidly growing in the Marine sector as well as all its other chosen fields of business and industry.

SENIOR MANAGEMENT:

Company Secretary & General Manager: Tanveer Anjum has been an integral part of the Khalil Group for over fourteen years. As Company Secretary and General Manager, he is responsible for seamless and fluid coordination of activities between all companies and divisions of the KHALIL Group. He is involved in the management of the Group. He is an MBA in finance, with lots of experience under his belt in the oil industry & other related fields. He is in charge of the Bunker & Lubricants Division. His duty is to ensure that all bunkers are delivered on time to the complete satisfaction of our customers, without any kind of delays to their vessels. He coordinates between the oil refineries / OMC’s / Port Authorities to ensure on-time bunker deliveries. He ensures that official permissions are obtained from all the government authorities and that complete paper work is done well in time, to ensure smooth bunker deliveries. The Bunker & Lubricants Division is undergoing a very rapid growth and the bunker fleet is growing in step to keep up with the demand & requirements of our local and international clients.

Senior Manager (Trading): Abdul Rafique Khan has over 28 years commercial marketing and trading experience. He is an MBA (Major in Marketing) and brings with him considerable marketing expertise in the international arena. He has previously worked for two major companies in Saudi Arabia, as their Sales and Marketing Manager and is now looking after the major international clients of the KHALIL Group. He also heads the Pharmaceutical division, due to his past association and back ground in the pharmaceutical industry. Under him, the Trading and Pharmaceutical departments are expanding rapidly and new personnel are being inducted into the divisions to cater to the ever-growing list of satisfied customers.  

KHALIL GROUP COMPANIES:

Khalil Marine Engineering Works, (KMEW): KPL started its boat building division, with the re-build of one (1) Shore Defense Motor Launch, and  then  production  of  nineteen (19)  wooden  Harbour  Patrol  Launches  for  the Pakistan Navy. After that, there was no looking back.  Ch. Mohammad Yusoof made a considerable name for himself in the field of manufacture of boats and marine vessels and KMEW became the premier boat building company in Pakistan. Due to the high quality standards and efficient boat / marine craft building practices, KMEW became the preferred company, for all the government and semi-government organizations in Pakistan. Now, over the years, KMEW has a proven track record of producing many different types of high quality, sea-going vessels and crafts in three different technologies of steel, timber and fiberglass. The list of satisfied clients has grown over the years, but it is the repeat customers and repeat orders that our company has based its success upon all these many years.

KMEW are licensed ship repairers since 1973, with facilities for repairs to Hull and Super Structure of Steel, Fiberglass, and Wooden Craft, including repairs to Main and Auxiliary machinery. In-house capability to produce life jackets under SOLAS specifications, to meet the demands of its various clients, both local and foreign, under the survey and certification of the Ports and Shipping Wing, Ministry of Communications, Government of Pakistan.

Khalil (Private) Limited: Is the flagship company of the Khalil Group. It has five main Divisions:

Bunker & Lubricants Division: KPL is one of the leading suppliers of fuels and lubricants to the marine industry in Pakistan. We are a physical bunker supplier and barge operator in Pakistan. KPL purchases directly from the Oil Refineries and OMCs. Our Bunker & Lubricants Division is committed to providing a first-class service to all its international / local customers. The operational / logistics / service team is growing in line with the rapid growth of the bunker & lubricants department and the improving and ever-increasing bunker fleet of the Group. The Bunker & Lubricants Division currently has four barges:

·                                                    TAELI-1: 250 M.Tons fuel oil carrying capacity.

·                                                    TAELI-2: 350 M.Tons fuel oil carrying capacity.

·                                                    TAELI-3: 80 M.Tons gas oil carrying capacity.

·                                                    TAELI-4: 200 M.Tons fuel oil carrying capacity.

We supply fuel, diesel, gas oil and lubricating oils.  KPL supplies IFO 180 cSt / IFO 125 cSt / IFO 120 cSt / MGO / MDO and Lubricants.

In 1999, KPL started bunkering by providing Pakistan State Oil Company Limited its 250 DWT barge, TAELI-1, for furnace oil and becoming its exclusive cartage contractor.

On 9^th October 2002, KPL received permission to import fuel Oil for Bunkering from the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources, Directorate General Oil, Government of Pakistan.

On 15^th October 2003, KPL received permission to buy Fuel Oil for Bunkering directly from the Oil Refineries, from the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources, Directorate General Oil, Government of Pakistan.

Trading Division: Our Trading Division offers services and caters to the requirements of Industrial / Textile / Oil & Gas / Construction / Mining / Road building / Transport sectors in Pakistan, as well as the neighboring countries. Different segments in the above mentioned sectors in Pakistan, and exporting to our valued customers abroad. This Division also caters to its sister divisions within KPL itself. All divisions of KPL are run separately & independently, yet there is tremendous synergy between them.  The Trading Division also deals in second-hand / re-conditioned machinery & equipment and supplies directly to the established wholesalers & direct users. Our Trading Division also trades in:

Pharmaceutical Division: Our Pharmaceutical Division is serving the requirements of the local and multi-national pharmaceutical manufacturing companies, all over Pakistan, through its extensive distribution network, by sourcing raw materials (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients / inactive Pharmaceutical Ingredients) at the most economical rates from our international principals, based in India, China, France, Italy, Iran, Singapore, Germany & Malaysia. Regional distributors are being appointed all over Pakistan to ensure complete country wide coverage. This dynamic expansion is based on the mission to make the Pharmaceutical division the leader in its chosen field of business by offering its clients / customer’s top quality, door-to-door solutions, maximum product information, competitive rates, timely shipment, immediate response / coverage and timely after sales support. Products and services are tailor made to suit each client / customer specifically and is one of the main reasons of our success. 

FMCG Division: Our FMCG Division has prepared for the future by its ever-expanding portfolio of products and services. Representing some of the world’s best known brands, we market a wide range of international and local products in Pakistan. Our consumer products are respected for their quality, service care and value for money. With an extensive distribution network all over Pakistan our products are helping to improve lifestyles and the quality of life of consumers. The FMCG division’s mission is for KHALIL to be looked upon as the preferred consumer products company in Pakistan.

Viking Sea Cruises, (VSC): Khalil (Private) Limited launched this new Division in 2006, under the name and style of Viking Sea Cruises. Geared towards tourism, the aim and function of this new Division is to cater to requirements of the general public as well as the corporate sector by providing safe and secure boats for recreation. VSC has imported four (4) extremely safe and robust fiberglass boats from Dubai, U.A.E. The boats are fully equipped with lifejackets for adults and children, as well as having L.S.A (life saving appliances) and F.F.A (fire fighting appliances) and manned by certified crew.

Northern Star Ship Trading (L.L.C.) DUBAI, UAE:  In the year 2000, the KHALIL Group launched a new company in the United Arab Emirates, under the name of Northern Star Ships Trading L.L.C., (NSST), operating out of Deira, Dubai. This company trades primarily in all types of boats / ships / marine equipment and machinery. It is a major source of export orders for the KHALIL Group, concentrating on orders mainly for Khalil Marine Engineering Works, and acts as a marketing agent for it for the Middle East and African markets. NSST has entered into an agreement with local U.A.E. companies, to import various types of boats/ vessels required by them from Pakistan.
